Every piece in the Kiln & Clay collection is hand-thrown on the wheel by one of our five resident potters. We use locally sourced stoneware clay and develop our glazes in-house using natural mineral pigments. No two pieces are identical.
Our studio operates on a seasonal collection model. New pieces are released quarterly, and popular designs often sell out within days. Sign up below to be notified when your favorite styles are restocked.
Each piece begins on the potter's wheel, where the clay is centered and shaped by hand. This process takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size and complexity of the form.
After throwing, pieces dry slowly for 2-3 days before being trimmed on the wheel to refine the foot ring and smooth the surface. Carved details are added at this leather-hard stage.
Dried pieces are loaded into our electric kilns for the first firing at 1830°F (1000°C). This 12-hour firing transforms the clay from fragile greenware into durable bisqueware.
Each piece is hand-dipped or brushed with our proprietary glazes, then fired a second time at 2300°F (1260°C) for 14 hours. The high temperature creates the durable, food-safe finish.
